And yes…there were a few pages where we were close to pull our own hair out. We liked that the love triangle that went on in this book wasn´t an actual ” tug of war “.
We enjoyed the characters ( Kate, Reed and Kyle ) to extremes because they were lovable and you could actually see yourself in their situation. We loved the story because it wasn´t overly drama-ish. We loved the cover because it really stands out. And for that we thank Melissa Rolka dearly. The Perfect Distraction made us remember that this genre can still be filled with so many feelings. And while reading so many of them, we lost interest pretty fast and forgot how exciting the New Adult genre actually is. The thing with New Adult novels that are being published these days is that they all are the same. So, the fact that Tennis was involved was okay. But Kate used Tennis to escape the cruelty of life. While reading this book….our first thought was : ” TENNIS? Seriously?” Not really a sport we were accustomed to while reading New Adult novels. Her determination to stay distracted may just be her downfall or the beginning of something new and wonderful. Kate finds herself torn between her past and the unknown of the future. He will stop at nothing to win her back and prove his love.
Kyle’s persistence and relentlessness is nothing short of obsessive. Kyle deeply regrets breaking her heart when he left for college the year before and is now on a mission to reclaim her. Things get complicated when Kate’s ex-boyfriend and first love continues to pursue her. Reed comes into her life giving her the distraction she craves more than anything but is she ready to give her heart away so easily? The minute Francessca mentioned the book, we were more than curious about it and couldn´t wait to start reading!
